La sutura quirúrgica de seda trenzada GDT es una sutura quirúrgica estéril y no absorbible compuesta de una proteína orgánica llamada fibroína. Esta proteína se obtiene de la especie domesticada Bombyx mori (B. More) de la familia Bombycidae.
La alta tecnología aplicada al trenzado de esta sutura garantiza un hilo compacto con alta resistencia a la tracción, lo que proporciona un mayor período de soporte al tejido.
Es, posiblemente, el material de sutura más cómodo de manipular y anudar.
Los hilos de seda están tratados con silicona para reducir su capilaridad y teñidos de negro para favorecer su visibilidad.
